About

Alexandra Rupp

My name is Alex Rupp and I am Master of Social Work student at California State University, Northridge. I am currently a Mental Health and Social-emotional school counseling intern.
I am determined to generate positive changes in the community and shape healthy social-emotional home and learning environments for youth development. I am committed to executing outstanding service, education, and specialized care to the underserved populations in the community.
The purpose of this blog is to share my learned knowledge, experiences and resources through my graduate studies and field work. My goal is to increase communication among early professionals in Social Work, Mental Health, and Human Services. I am driven to empower vulnerable youth and other populations on all levels of practice.

A little bit about Me

Born and raised in South Florida, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a Minor in Women’s Studies from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. During my undergraduate studies, I worked with The Mental Health Association of Central Florida as an Intern and Certified Guardian Advocate. Under the Baker Act, I advocated for involuntarily committed clients and was given legal responsibility to approve the client’s treatment plan and intervention.

After my college graduation in 2013, I moved two weeks later to San Francisco, California with a desire to engage in a new cultural experience with a more diverse population. Since then, I have experienced an incredible amount of personal and professional growth. I am continuously: growing in my professional skills, obtaining invaluable knowledge, contributing to social justice policies, and enhancing my cultural competency.

I want to thank all those involved with my MSW cohort program at CSUN (including staff, professors, and my peers) as well as my Internship Supervisor for your encouragement and your contributions to my personal and professional growth, and to the communities we serve. Your passion for improving human well-being and your efforts to help meet the basic human needs of all people is empowering and appreciated.
